Here is one of those movies that had an anticipated release date at the end of the previous year.
“The Founder” was one of those movies that the studio probably had high hopes for during award season and so they gave it a very limited release before the end of the year, but then getting a wider release in the new year. Why not though? It’s a solid cast (Michael Keaton just getting an Oscar nod for “Birdman”), putting up a decent performance and pulling a dramatic look at the history of a restaurant that we have all been to at least once in our lives (much like Facebook and “The Social Network”, but not as dark) – if my children had their choice we would be eating chicken nuggets and playing on the indoor playland everyday.
The movie made back it’s money, but only having a very short stint in the theater, before heading to the video store or your favorite digital download. So, is it worth it? Is it worth your $1.50 at the RedBox down the street? I’ll let you decide.
The story of Ray Kroc, a salesman who turned two brothers’ innovative fast food eatery, McDonald’s, into one of the biggest restaurant businesses in the world with a combination of ambition, persistence, and ruthlessness. ~ IMDb
